Olympic Form – 5th at Nagano 1998, 1st at Salt Lake City 2002. Currently intends to compete at Turin in 2006.

World Championship Form - 3rd in 1997, 1st in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. Alexei came second to Evgeni Plushenko in 2001 after a difficult season, but regained his title at Nagano 2002.

Euro Championship Form – 6th in 1996, 5th in 1997, 1st in 1998 and 1999, 2nd in 2000 and 2001, 1st in 2002. Current champion.

Other wins 2000 – 2002 - Skate Canada 2000 and 2001, Trophee Lalique 2000 and 2001, Japan Open 2001, ISU Grand Prix 2002

Hobbies – fishing, computers, his 2 year old cocker spaniel, Lawrence. He also likes Bon Jovi, but we won’t hold that against him.


Alexei is three-time World Champion, two-time European Champion in men’s figure skating. In 2000 ABC Network nominated him for the 1999 Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year Award. He shared this privilege with such sporting greats as Tiger Woods, Serena Williams and Andre Agassi. The newspaper Daily Tribune recently spoke of Alexei: “Alexei Yagudin is well on his way to Olympic Gold in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games. He is to the rink what Tiger Woods is to the green.”
